WHAT'S A FLOOD?
A flood is an overflow of water that submerges or drowns land. In the sense of flowing water, the word may also be applied to the inflow of the tide. Flooding may result from the volume of water within a body of water, such as a river or lake, which overflows or breaks levees, with the result that some of the water escapes its usual boundaries. It also may be due to accumulation of rainwater on saturated ground in a real flood. Some floods develop slowly, while other flash floods can develop in a matter of minutes. Additionally floods can be local, impacting a neighborhood or community, or very large, affecting entire river basins. Floods are one of the

This image is of the red hill valley expressway, right here in Hamilton. It has caused a man-made flood. Ever since the government added this expressway as many as 1000 home have been flooding. These homes have been flooding because when the government built this expressway they accidentally damaged pipes underground which brings the homes access water away. Damaging these pipes forced the water to move backward from the pipe into peoples basements, causing flooding. Fighting about this expressway has gone on ever since it was built.
